WE LOOKED BACK TO MOVE FORWARD
2o Hectares of vineyards with Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet grapes, 3000 olive trees, 100 hectares of woods where truffles and mushrooms abound, our own private hunting reserve with pheasants, hare, deer and wild boar, multicoloured bumblebees. All of this makes up the natural world of Piaggia. At Piaggia we have always produced wine and extra virgin olive oil, but we also have truffles, mushrooms, and a wonderful wildflower honey. The cultivation of wheat, which was halted in the 1980s, has begun again, with a careful selection of local varieties which are used to create an organic flour as well as pasta from heritage grains. Ours is the choice for an informed farming approach, with respect for the rhythm of the seasons. We plan to complete this ambitious project with the raising of livestock, restoring and putting to use the original animal stalls within the next 5 years.
