The History

On the Via Francigena, a village where time seems to have stopped

The first records of the Piaggia settlement date back to before the year 1000. The complex was originally a monastery located along the Via Francigena – the ancient route from France to Rome – which still crosses the Fattoria, connecting San Vivaldo to Montaione.

The estate originally belonged to the Guicciardini Strozzi family, who used it as a hunting reserve. It was later acquired by the Bardini family of the Bardini Museum in Florence, and in the second half of the 20th century, it was purchased by the Billeri family before passing to the Counts Passerin d’Entrèves and Courmayeur.
